I designed a hard stop for a 5 ton overhead crane to limit the cranes travel. This model was created in SolidWorks using Weldment feature and following AWS standards for welds.
The image on the right shows the hard stop mounted to the I-beam (with a C-channel welded on top). To simulate the actual I-beam and C-channel on SolidWorks, I took critical measurements by hand and used the Structural Members feature to configure it.
Hold-down bolts were used to secure the hard stop to the c-channel along with washers, lock washers and nuts.
I also created 2D drawings for manufacturing and assembly.
